We've been planting native trees and hedges as part of the Henbury Parish Council Environmental Project since 2010 and our next session will be on Sunday March 2nd over at Marlheath Farm.
We'll be adding around 160m of new conservation hedging which will help to link up valuable habitats and bring in more wildlife corridors to the area. We're fortunate to be funded by The Mersey Forest again.
As always, everything is done by volunteers, and as we'll have around 850 trees to plant we need a lot of them!
It's a great social activity and a chance to catch up with friends old and new in a beautiful part of the area. Families are very welcome and it's a fantastic opportunity for our younger helpers to get stuck in and do something hands-on for nature. No prior experience is needed.
The pictures show new planting in 2022 and a hedgerow planted 10 years ago in the same area that we'll be on Sunday.
We'll be starting around 9-30 am, and continuing until everything is done – probably mid-afternoon.Any help would be useful, even just half an hour, so there's no need to stay for the whole time, though of course you'd be very welcome to! Our base will be Henbury Lodge, SK11 9LA, where parking is available.
Please contact Simon (details below) if you would be interested in helping or would just like more details.
