Henbury resident and local historian Roger Bowling has kindly supplied us with a fascinating piece of research into the life of a certain George Jesse.
He was a well-educated and well-connected man who lived in Henbury from the 1870's.
It seems he founded The Society for the Abolition of Vivisection, and corresponded with Charles Darwin amongst others. He also published a well-known book "Researches into the History of the British Dog".
