Following the funeral of Sir Francis Graham-Smith, who passed away recently, Henbury Millennium Green was delighted to welcome members of his family to admire its Kerridge stone sundial which he designed and installed on the Green in 2000.
And since he was 102 years old on his death, four generations of his family were mourning and the number of family members visiting the Green was indeed considerable!
The sundial was new to many of them so they were delighted to see it telling the correct time thanks to some Henbury sunshine.
And some of the younger visitors enjoyed playing and swinging in the sunshine too.
The opportunity was taken to express to family members Henbury's gratitude for the many good things he did in the community during the time he lived in Old School House.
And Graham's daughter has expressed her thanks for welcoming all the Smith family to Henbury and for saying those very kind words in remembrance of her father. It goes without saying, she writes, that we were delighted at the whole event and with the way Henbury turned out to remember him with us.
