The great escape completed!
Two Henbury lads (George Ramscar and Nick Pegg), playing for Macc Tigers U13's helped secure a great win for the team.
"So the final game of the season and it was 2nd from bottom (Tigers) v 3rd from bottom (Sandbach Kites) and a point separating the teams!
We started really well, attacking quickly and with real purpose. A great through ball from central defender Nick put Lewis through for a cool finish. Lewis then turned provider for George R with a close range finish. Sandbach finally woke up but the boys remained resolute and despite some intensive pressure prevented them from scoring any goals. HT 2-0 up and in control!
The 2nd half followed pretty much the same pattern, with some good pressure from Sandbach but defensively we remained solid and restricted them to very few real chances. Whereas at the other end, first George set up Sam for his trademark well placed finished and then George showed some quick thinking in the area to give Jack a clear sight on goal, which Jack duly smashed into the bottom left hand corner! A thoroughly deserved 4-0 win, clearly showing what this team is capable of on its day.
Well done to our Men of the Match – Nick, who read the game really well from both CD and RB, making some timely interceptions and clearances, and George R with 1 goal and 2 assists.
Not our best season, but we did enough in the last 3 games when it counted to finish in 7th."
