At its AGM on May 21st Sir Francis Graham-Smith ( known to us all as Graham) retired as Chairman and founder trustee of the Millennium Green Trust after almost 21 years of service.
From the very beginning, in 1998, Graham has worked tirelessly with fellow Trustees to establish develop and improve the Green. The iconic sundial was his creation and he planned and supervised all the original tree planting on a very wet Sunday in March 1999 when 30 or more Henbury residents planted around 1800 saplings. From then on he has guided the Trust wisely and his tremendous devotion has ensured that Henbury residents can enjoy the lovely Millennium Green for ever.
Trustee Susan Pegg, who has taken over the Chair from Graham, paid a glowing tribute to his service to the Trust and presented him with a dram or two of Scotch whisky to enjoy as he takes a rest.
For those who missed the AGM, here are a few photographs that recall some of the things that remind us of the contribution Graham has made to our Millennium Green over the years.
We say farewell to him but fervently hope he will take time to come over to the Green whenever he wishes to see how things are going on. .
